Even If was built around a simple, deeply personal act: bringing your struggles and fears honestly before God and receiving His Word in return. When you tell Even If "I feel alone" or "I have no hope," that moment is between you and the Lord — and we treat it that way. We do not sell your information, we do not show you ads, and we do not share the personal needs you express with anyone outside the services required to make this app work.
Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. It explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
1. Definitions
When we say "Even If," "we," "us," or "our," we mean Even if, the developer and operator of the Even If mobile application.
When we say "App," we mean the Even If iOS and Android mobile application.
When we say "you" or "your," we mean anyone who uses the App, whether or not they have created an account.
2. Information We Collect
Information You Provide to Us
Account information.
To create an account, we collect your email address, display name, and a password — or, if you choose passwordless sign-in, your email address for a one-time passcode (OTP). We use this information to create and authenticate your account.
Personal needs and requests.
The core feature of Even If asks you to share something you are struggling with or a need you have. You may type a personal statement or select from a pre-populated option. This input is used solely to match you with a relevant Bible verse and passage. It is processed by our AI system as described in Section 4.
Account settings.
We collect your preferred Bible translation (e.g., NKJV, NIV, The Message) and your display mode preference (light, dark, or system default). These are stored securely on your device.
Communications.
If you contact us for support or feedback, we retain that correspondence to respond to your inquiry and improve the App.
Information Collected Automatically
Session tokens.
When you sign in, an authentication token (JWT) is stored in your device's secure storage. This token is used to authenticate your session and is not transmitted beyond what is necessary to verify your identity with our servers.
Verse history.
We maintain a server-side record of which Bible verses have been shown to you. This is used exclusively to prevent the App from showing you the same verse repeatedly. It is associated with your account and not used for any other purpose.
Usage data.
Our servers automatically receive standard technical information when you use the App, including your device type, operating system version, IP address, and the timing of requests. We use this information to maintain service reliability and diagnose technical issues.
Information We Do Not Collect
We do not collect your location. We do not access your contacts, camera, microphone, or photo library. We do not serve advertisements or use advertising identifiers.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create, maintain, and authenticate your account
- Deliver the core App experience: matching your expressed need to a relevant Bible verse and displaying the corresponding passage
- Remember your translation preference and avoid repeating Bible verses you have already received
- Respond to your support requests
- Diagnose and fix technical problems
- Improve the App through internal analysis and development
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use
We do not use your information to build advertising profiles, and we do not combine your information with data from third-party advertising networks.
4. Artificial Intelligence
Even If uses AI to match the need you express to relevant themes, which are then used to select a Bible verse for you. This processing is performed using the OpenAI API. When the need you enter does not match our existing theme library through a direct search, your input is sent to OpenAI's API to determine the best matching theme.
What this means for your data:
- The text of your personal need or struggle may be transmitted to OpenAI's servers for processing.
- We do not transmit your name, email, or any other identifying information alongside your need.
- OpenAI's use of data submitted via the API is governed by OpenAI's Privacy Policy. Under OpenAI's API data usage policies, API inputs are not used to train OpenAI's models by default.
- We cache the results of theme matching on our servers so that common inputs do not need to be re-processed by AI on subsequent requests.
Our use of AI is limited to this single purpose: helping you receive a relevant Scripture based on what you share. No automated decisions that materially affect you are made by AI alone.
5. Disclosure of Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your personal information with advertisers. We may share your information in the following limited circumstances:
Service providers.
We use third-party services that process information on our behalf in order to operate the App:

Each of these providers is contractually obligated to use your information only as necessary to provide services to us and not for their own commercial purposes.
Legal requirements.
We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or other legal process, or if we have a good-faith belief that disclosure is necessary to protect the safety of any person, prevent fraud, or protect our legal rights.
Business transfers.
If Even If is acquired or merges with another organization, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will provide notice before your information is subject to a different privacy policy.
6. Your Choices: Accessing, Correcting, and Deleting Your Data
Update your account.
You can update your display name and email address from within the App's account settings at any time. Changing your email address will trigger a verification step.
Delete your account.
You may request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us at dev@evenif.app. Upon receiving your request, we will delete your account, verse history, and associated personal information within 30 days. Aggregated, de-identified usage statistics derived from your activity may be retained. Note that we may retain certain information if required by law or to resolve disputes.
Access your data.
You may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you by contacting us using the information in Section 10.
Withdraw from AI processing.
If you wish to stop having your inputs processed by our AI system, you may discontinue use of the verse-matching feature or delete your account.
To make any of these requests, contact us at the information provided in Section 10. We will respond within 30 days. We may ask you to verify your identity before processing your request.
7. Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. Authentication tokens are stored using your device's secure enclave. Data in transit is encrypted using TLS. Our backend database is managed by Supabase, which employs industry-standard security controls.
No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.
8. Children's Privacy
Even If is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under this age. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child, please contact us immediately and we will delete it promptly.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes to how we collect or use your information, we will notify you through the App or by email before the change takes effect. The date this policy was last modified is shown at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
